Dear Friends and Family,
I’ll be flying to South Africa in one week and performing at the US woordfees in two weeks! My first concert is on 9 March at 20:00 in the Endler Hall. I’ll be playing Mozart’s piano concerto K414 with the US Camerata orchestra, directed by Leon Bosch. On 12 March, I’ll be performing a solo recital at 11:00, also in the Endler Hall. The program includes Beethoven’s “Waldstein Sonata,” six of Lyapunov’s Transcendental Etudes, and Rzewski’s Winnsboro Cotton Mill Blues. Tickets for both performances are available through Computicket. Maties alumni can purchase discounted tickets through this link. This Friday (Feb 24), I’ll be playing a collaborative concert in Cleveland Heights. When I return, I’ll be performing a few collaborative and solo concerts for the M.U.S.i.C Stars in the Classics concert series and outreach concerts for the Cleveland International Piano Competition’s Artsconnect series. My second DMA recital will also be scheduled for late April or early May. Details will be available on my website in the coming weeks. I recently set up an Instagram account and I’ve been uploading short, informal practice clips. If you’d like a peek at the process of learning new music or a preview of upcoming repertoire, you can follow me @megangprins_piano or visit this link. I'm looking forward to seeing familiar faces in South Africa (and Cleveland, of course)! All the best, Megan

Dear Friends and Family,
I’m excited for a new year of music-making. My upcoming engagements include chamber music and solo recitals in Cleveland, OH and two tours in South Africa. I’m particularly excited to be playing a solo recital and a concerto performance at the US Woordfees in Stellenbosch in March. For more information on the concerts, please visit my website and Facebook page. The latter will have updates regarding discounted Woordfees tickets for Matie alumni and a few snippets of the Lyapunov etudes I’m preparing for solo recitals. I also look forward to various solo and collaborative performances throughout South Africa in June, July, and early August. In the meantime, I’m preparing for concerts in wintry Cleveland. Below is a picture of snow falling outside the Mixon recital hall during one of my rehearsals. Tomorrow I start my fourth semester of doctoral study at CIM! I’m grateful to all who have supported me in this musical journey so far. Wishing you a prosperous new year filled with music. Regards, Megan This coming week will be my last in South Africa before I return to the USA to embark on my second year of doctoral study at the Cleveland Institute of Music. It has been such a privilege to perform, collaborate, and teach here at home. Thanks to everyone who attended performances and who took the time to contact me online and at concerts.
I look forward to playing one last concert in Stellenbosch on Sunday, 14 August as part of the Endler Concert Series. Tickets cost R140/R100 and can be purchased through Computicket. For more information, please visit the Endler Concert Series website. Earlier this month I participated in the ATKV Muziq Competition in Potchefstroom. I was honoured to win first prize and an additional prize for my performance of Haydn’s Sonata in C minor, Hob.XVI:20. Thank you to the ATKV for the prize money, which I’ll use to cover a portion of my tuition fees at CIM. The Stellenbosch International Chamber Music Festival, which took place early in July, was a riveting and fulfilling experience. After attending the festival for 10 years as a student it was truly sobering to take the stage as a faculty member alongside incredible international and local artists. To the students, faculty, and organisers (Nina, Luis, and Peter in particular): thank you for 11 years of learning, laughter, and music! I’m excited to see this festival continue to impact South African musicians in the future. Fundraising efforts for my second year of study at CIM are still underway. I’m grateful to the National Arts Council of South Africa for offering me an award and I’m waiting for feedback on another application to a local organisation. Thank you to everyone who has contributed to my campaign thus far, either by donating or by attending/hosting concerts. I am deeply grateful. I’ll continue to provide updates on my fundraising efforts through my online campaign and website. Lastly, please take some time to visit my new website, www.megangeoffreyprins.com, and “like” my new artist’s page on Facebook. You can use these platforms to listen to my music and read information about concerts, fundraising, and competitions. You can also follow me on Twitter or connect with me on LinkedIn for updates. Although I’m always sad to say goodbye to family and friends in South Africa, I’m excited for my second year of doctoral study. I’m particularly looking forward to a double concerto performance in Ohio and a trip to Hong Kong! I’ll send more news from Cleveland.
